Yet the restaurant that boasted an Asian inspired plant-based menu and impressive 4.7 star rating on Facebook has officially gone into liquidation leaving multiple creditors owed thousands.
Business owner Helen Chan claimed COVID-19 pandemic trading restrictions and trading losses resulted in the “demise” of her business, according to the liquidator report.
Liquidator Brendan Nixon, from SM Solvency Accountants, said the restaurant which officially went into liquidation on July 8 has no “significant assets.”
“Effectively we’ve got a company with no trading business and no significant cash in the bank. The cupboard is bare,” he told The Northern District Times.
The liquidation report states three bank accounts were identified with one holding a balance of $20,681 which was security for a bank guarantee with the company’s landlord.
The second account had a balance less than $2,000 and another had a debit of $230.
The report further states that a series of cheques for amounts of $1500 and $3000 were drawn in the six-months before liquidation amounting to $60,000.
Mr Nixon, who is a partner at the Brisbane-based insolvency firm, said the cheques were “still being investigated.”
The liquidator said he was liaising with the company’s accountant and conducting bank traces on the cheques.
Carlingford Vegetarian Cuisine abandoned its premises after it ceased trading in late May which was a month before liquidation.
“The company unilaterally terminated its lease with the landlord and effectively indicated that it was abandoning the equipment,” Mr Nixon said.
Mr Nixon said he was now in the process of liaising with the landlord to conduct a valuation of the equipment inside the previous restaurant.
It is not known the total amount owed to all creditors at this stage yet the ATO has reported it’s owed $1192.
The restaurant owner was approached for comment.
