Brisbane ran to a 20-0 lead after just half an hour and by halftime Manly were trailing 20-4.
Unfortunately for the Sea Eagles, Brisbane produced what was described as their best performance in this season.
“We starved them of possession and kept then down their end of the field in the second half,” said Broncos coach Anthony Griffin.
Sea Eagles coach Geoff Toovey said momentum got away from his side in the first 10-15 minutes.
“But we were own worst enemy and that is where we ended up,” he said. H
He said with Sam Thaiday back in their side Manly knew that would add to the enthusiasm of the Broncos side.
“They came out of the blocks really quickly and we didn’t handle it too well,” Toovey said. The Sea Eagles ended the game with five-eighth Kieran Foran having his ankle wrapped in ice.
“He has a twisted ankle so we pulled him off in the last five minutes just to rest him up,” Tooovey said.
