SEA Eagles owner Scott Penn has made an impassioned plea for the club’s supporters not to abandon the ship as they navigate their way through some stormy seas.

He sent the message to the Manly faithful following Sunday’s 31-24 loss to Penrith on Sunday at Brookvale Oval, surrendering a 24-4 lead.

“We need everyone to stick with us,” Penn told the Manly Daily.

“I know that the end of this game was disappointing but we showed really good signs.

“We need everyone to be patient and keep supporting us because we will get there

“We have been here before and we have come out of it and we will get out of this, we just need a bit of time.”

Penn said the first half performance was fantastic, but dropped off after the break.

“Of course everyone is going to be disappointed, as we should be because we expect more, it’s natural,” Penn said.

“We were up 24-4 early in the second half and everyone would have expected us to put it away.”

He revealed the club has already had to use 28 players which was the most ever this early in the season

“In this game it is about consistency, and we haven’t had consistency of people on the park,” Penn said.

“You can’t get your cohesion, you can’t get your structures the same every week and that tells.

“The combinations that certainly the top four teams, if not the top eight teams, have been able to form through consistency of personnel, we haven’t been able to do this year.”
