St PAUL’S Catholic College Manly student Harley Ross-Webster feels like the king of the playground at the moment.

It comes after the natural footer won the open division at the Sydney Schools Surfing titles last week at Cronulla.

In messy conditions, the 15-year-old from North Curl Curl upstaged three shire locals in the senior final, jagging a 9.25 score from the judges in the final four minutes to finish up as regional champion.

Speaking moments before a photo shoot with Volcom on Wednesday, Ross-Webster said his highlight was surfing alongside his older brother, Corey.

“It was heaps of fun, we just went out there and did our thing,’’ he said.

“We have spent countless hours together in the surf, so to work as a team in a competition scenario was wicked.

“To finish ahead of the guys from Cronulla and Narrabeen Sports High was huge, they both have quality surfing programs at their schools.

“Over the past few years surfing has got bigger and bigger at St Paul’s. It’s been great to be a part of that process.”

Ross-Webster will head to Queensland today for a road trip with his sponsors before he then represents his school at the state titles next month.

“I can’t wait, surfing somewhere new is always good fun,’’ he said.

“I also have a few other big events coming up. My focus is to keep working hard and improve the little things.”

The school’s senior boys division who competed at Cronulla was comprised of Corey Ross-Webster, Alex Hayes, Josh Trapp, Pat Parker, Joel Barker, Josh Horne and Harley Ross Webster, while Will Sloman and Kane Roberge held their own in the junior boys.
