A FEW weeks ago Pittwater RSL FC looked dead and buried in the MWFA Premier League.

Clinging on to a top four spot, any talk of winning the title was scoffed at.

And rightly so.

That all changed on Saturday afternoon after they beat St Augustine’s 2-1 at Graham Reserve.

Pittwater substitute Alex Lee gave the Greens the lead and, moments later, Stefano Teghini gave them a two-goal cushion.

Saints pegged one back late but the grand final winners from 2015 held on to win and draw level with Narrabeen with 29 points, with three games remaining.

Teghini retired at the end of last season but, after Scott Balderson went back to Manly United, the deadly striker answered a club SOS.

He has not disappointed, finding the back of the net three times in four games.

“He (Teghini) always produces for us,’’ midfielder Charlie Fyfe said.

“It was a tough game — Saints are hard to break down.

“We aren’t worried about Narrabeen.

“If we keep winning each week we will be in with a shot of winning the title.”

In other games Mosman shocked Dee Why 4-3, Manly Vale did just enough to topple neighbours Manly Allambie 3-2, Wakehurst moved back into the top four after thumping Brookvale 4-0 and Seaforth versus Narrabeen finished in a 1-1 stalemate.
