When the under-8s Collaroy Cougars took on Manly Roos at Keirle Park last Saturday morning it was almost too much fun.
The score wasn’t important, it was all about the enthusiastic kids running out and enjoying the game they play in heaven.
Cougars manager Helen Barlow-Hunt revealed the team were improving with each outing. “Our defence was very good from start to finish,” she said.
For the home side, Will Rylands was a popular choice for player of the match, following his late try where he beat a series of defenders on his way to the line.
In an amusing moment early on, the game was temporarily halted when three-year-old Luke Gaunt burst on to the field.
His father Robert sprinted into the fray, carrying his giggling son to the safety of the sideline.
