WEDNESDAY’S night’s 100th State of Origin game has taken it’s toll on the Sea Eagles with halfback Daly Cherry-Evans out of Sunday’s game with the Broncos.
But the club remains confident that backrower Anthony Watmough will play in the Suncorp Stadium showdown.
Cherry-Evans has a knee injury and will be replaced by Jack Littlejohn who did a good deputising for the injured Kieran Foran.
“He said it happened in the last minute of the game,” said Sea Eagles coach Geoff Toovey.
Toovey hopes he will be right for the Sea Eagles next game against the Bulldogs.
Watmough has a ruptured bicep and has made it clear that he wants to play.
“We will assess him tomorrow but we are pretty confident he will be OK,” Toovey said last night.
“Rugby league is a tough game played by tough men.
“He is a tough character and unless he is really incapacitated he should be able to play.”
