SEA Eagles star Jorge Taufua was touched by comments from his cousin and NSW winger Daniel Tupou prior to Wednesday’s State of Origin game.

Tupou said he would be playing for Taufua and that he deserved a wing spot in the Blues team.

“It was very humbling to read that,” Taufua admitted.

“If it was me in that position I probably would have said the same thing.

“We speak highly of each other and it’s good to have him in this competition.

“We test each other even though we are so close.”

None other than half-back Trent Hodkinson and a five-eighth called Tony Williams who were both in the NSW Origin squad this week.

OH DEAR, OH DEER;

ELDOM are those hardy souls from the Dee Why RSL Ice Picks kept out of the water, but, oh deer, it happened last Sunday.

On arrival at the Corrimal Swimming Club for their annual meet, the Ice Picks were told the event had been cancelled due to an unexpected visitor in the water.

The local pool had been closed due to the discovery of a deceased deer, which had wandered down from the mountains.

There were no suspicious circumstances and it appears the deer had merely got out of it’s depth.
