A nursing home worker who police allege sexually assaulted a patient has been revealed to be a now-unemployed 27-year-old from Sydney’s inner west.
Prayash Poudel, from Strathfield, is potentially facing 14 years in jail if convicted of the charges.
Police will allege Poudel had sex with a woman without her consent in a Neutral Bay facility in February this year.
He has also been charged for allegedly sexually touching the same woman without her consent on the same night, according to court documents.
Poudel appeared in Burwood Local Court for the first time on Thursday accompanied by his lawyer Anthony Sukkar and a supporter.
According to court documents Poudel was arrested by North Shore detectives on October 26.
The Health Care Complaints Commission this week renewed an order banning him from providing any health services to members of the public for a further eight weeks.
The HCCC refused to provide further information when contacted despite listing the banning order naming Poudel on its website.
Mr Sukkar told the court Poudel could not go near a nursing home as part of his bail conditions.
The court heard Poudel was currently looking for work since he was arrested two months ago.
The court was also told Poudel was served with the brief of evidence, which outlines the police’s case against him, yesterday.
Mr Sukkar said he was still waiting on an outstanding interview transcript before the brief could be complete
