North shore Pizza Hut in Gordon fined over food safety breaches

A north shore Pizza Hut outlet has been fined over food safety breaches after receiving previous warnings from council food inspectors.

A north shore pizza hut outlet is the latest north shore venue to be hit with fines over breaches of food and hygiene standards.

Ku-ring-gai Council served Pizza Hut in Gordon with $1760 in fines for two offences following an inspection of the Pacific Hwy restaurant on October 6.

The breaches including failing to have adequate storage facilities for products that are likely to be the source of contamination of food

It also failed to ensure food contact surfaces of equipment were kept in a clean and sanitary condition.

A council spokeswoman did not elaborate on the details of the breaches, but said the fast food outlet had been given previous warnings for each of the offences during an inspection on September 15.

The restaurant was served an improvement notice regarding cleanliness and food storage in September before the fines were issued in the follow-up visit.

The venue is the latest in a long list of north shore eateries issued fines over breaches of food hygiene and safety.

A public register shows Willoughby Council issued the most fines on the north shore since January with 10 venues issued a combined 34 infringements.

North Sydney Council also issued six fines to five venues over the same period.

The North Shore Times contacted Pizza Hut for comment but did not receive a response at the time of publication.
