One of Australia’s most successful pet care companies is planning to launch its second Sydney salon in the city’s east, giving the region’s proud pet owners a new way of keeping their dogs and cats looking trim.
Services such as grooming, wellbeing massages, teeth cleaning, pawdicures and therapy mud baths would be on offer under plans by Rufus and Coco to open a new Fur Salon parlour in a currently vacant heritage listed building in Queens Park.
The venue would be the second salon for the pet care empire that was founded back in 2008 and now supplies a range of health, beauty and accessory products to 11 countries around the world.
The company was established by Anneke van den Broek who took the company from a small start-up to a global brand and is recognised as one of Sydney’s top entrepreneurs.
Plans for the new Queens Park store include a grooming area, banquet seats, reception area and shelving that could stock a range of pet care products.
The salon at 193 Bronte Rd would employ six staff members and Rufus & Coco is currently on the lookout for future groomers to fill the vacancies.
Valued skills include experience with providing dog and cat grooming, good scissor techniques, dog handling skills and the ability to handle a diverse range of dogs including various breeds, sizes and ages.
Plans to Waverley Council state: “The proposal will provide a benefit to local residents” and “increase the diversity of commercial and retail uses in the local area”.
Among the treatments available at the Mosman branch at present include a blueberry facial, a therapy mudbath, an activated charcoal exfoliation or the “shampoodle” wash and blow-dry.
Cats can get a “Brazilian” which is a clip around their “belly, bottom and armpits”, a pawdicure or the ever popular 90 minutes “Great Catsby” treatment.
The plans remain under assessment by the council. If approved, the salon would operate from 8am to 7pm, seven days a week.
