How do you choose where to vote on election day? Is it the tempting democracy sausage sizzles that swing your selection or is it just the nearest booth to your home?

North Sydney voters have about 40 places to choose from in the electorate. There is expected to be a festive atmosphere at the local schools as the P&C teams will be hosting BBQs.

One of the best is taking place at Willoughby Public School. Alongside the important sausages there will be egg and bacon rolls available and sweet treats at the cake stall.

It all starts cooking at 8.30am and the funds will go towards furniture for the new school buildings.

Other schools preparing a spread are Anzac Park Public School, Cammeray Public School and Cammeraygal High School. Funds raised at Anzac Park will go towards a defibrillator.
