INTERIORS, flowers and “beautiful things” are the inspiration for Mosman fashion duo Lizzie and Georgie Renkert.
The sisters are the combined talent behind bohemian label We Are Kindred, and will show their resort collection next week at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia.
Planning for the show has been underway since Christmas, but behind the scenes it is remarkably calm.
“As a team we are extremely organised — almost to the point we feel too calm,” said Lizzie. “Show day is pretty intense, but we have an incredible team who we completely trust and it’s all pretty enjoyable, to be honest.”
The new collection, Nouveau Fleur, will feature dramatic shapes and black for the first time — sheer silk anoraks over timeless swimwear, floor sweeping gowns and belted party dresses.
“The collection is very true to Kindred’s sexy pretty aesthetic, however it is a little more unexpected than past seasons,” said Georgie. “Our girl loves a party dress that makes her feel feminine and sophisticated, yet also loves to have a lot of fun.”

The sisters, who went to Mosman Public School before Lizzie went on to study at SCECGS Redlands and Georgie to Queenwood, launched We Are Kindred in 2013.
They blended the skills learned in Lizzie’s former career as a magazine editor and Georgie’s working in product development for brands including Sportsgirl.
“We’re incredibly close and like-minded and we’d always wanted to work together. It wasn’t until five years ago, when we saw a small gap in an overcrowded market, that we decided to actually do something about it,” said Georgie.
“It hasn’t been easy. We’ve poured our hearts and souls into We Are Kindred. Building a brand from scratch is such an incredible opportunity and one we are incredibly grateful for.”
Lizzie lives in Cremorne with husband Andy Foy and children Luella, 6, and Max, 4. Georgie, who is married to musician Jake Meadows and is mum to eight month old Delilah, is based in Paddington.
The sisters said there have been several highlights of their fashion journey so far — namely the privilege of working together and the label getting picked up by Myer.
But they are also grateful for the flexibility the business affords. “It allows us to be the best mums we can be,” said Lizzie.
Family time includes catch ups in a favourite spot within their childhood locale — Clifton Gardens. “It is a stand out, especially the pop up oyster bar on the jetty. We can be found there with our kids and dogs most Sunday afternoons,” Lizzie said.
