MOSMAN Physie Club’s national champion Brooke Losco is the Mosman Daily’s first Local Sports Stars Junior Sports Star nominee for 2018.

The physie veteran, 17, who started the sport at two years old, counted her two national individual titles among her highest achievements.

Brooke most recently won the title of Second Year Senior Champion Girl in the Bjelke-Petersen Physical Culture senior national finals in December.

It was her second consecutive Australian title, having won as a first-year senior in the 16-year-old division previously. Brooke was also a national individual runner-up when she was 15.

“I’d really like to achieve a hat-trick; so I would like to win again this year, but we’ll see,” she said.

The chance to compete with her teammates is equally important to Brooke.

“Getting second place at the national level in teams last year was a huge achievement for us at Mosman Physie,” she said.

“I always like that I’m part of a team and we always work well together. The team competition in November is really exciting because you’re in it with seven other girls, so you have got to work together.”

Brooke was also part of the open team, which was fourth in the elite division at nationals.

This year, she also enjoys giving back to younger members through coaching the club’s nine- to 12-year-olds.

“I’m loving it. I like being able to see the girls succeed, when the light bulb moment occurs and they improve that little bit more week to week,” she said.

Brooke looks forward to travelling with the club to perform at Disneyland and Universal Studios in the US next month.

“My Mosman Physie teachers really help and support me; I could not have done what I have done without them,” she said.
