NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian joined the campaign trail this morning for her local federal MP in North Sydney.
Ms Berejiklian greeted voters at Willoughby Public School and asked them to vote for Liberal candidate Trent Zimmerman.
“I’m Liberal voter and I’m thrilled to support Trent,” Ms Berejiklian said.
“I know if he’s re-elected he will achieve a lot more for the electorate.”
Mr Zimmerman was delighted to have Ms Berejiklian on his team to start the day saying it was always good to have “a bit of extra star power”.
He was also joined at the polling booth by his partner Carlos Toledo.
“We are still anxious on polling day but we’ve really enjoyed the campaign,” Mr Zimmerman said.
The smell of the democracy sausage sizzle filled the playground at Willoughby Public School from early this morning.
The P&C decked the grounds out with a BBQ and a cake stall, with some amazing cupcake creations by young students and parents on sale.
Ms Berejiklian lined up to buy a democracy sausage roll from the school volunteers with Mr Zimmerman.
The funds raised by hungry voters will go towards furniture, learning support and music equipment.
P&C co-president Tanya Taylor said they hoped to raise a couple of thousand dollars for the school.
Labor candidate Brett Stone was also campaigning at the school this morning and was joined by a team of volunteers.
“It’s been good having the opportunity to chat to voters and it’s been busy,” Mr Stone said.
“A lot of people are voting Labor for the first time.”
