KASEY Chambers has performed on farm paddocks, on the back of trucks and even in the raw geography of a mine.
“I’ve done gigs in some crazy places,’’ she said.
But the country singer says nothing beats a zoo.
“I’ve performed a couple of times at Melbourne Zoo and I have to say they were the best gigs I have ever done in my life,” she said.
“It’s performing outside at twilight and everyone is in such a great frame of mind being around the animals.”
So it’s not surprising the singer is genuinely excited about her debut performance at Twilight at Taronga on February 10.
Her three children, who often join on gigs, are also keen to part of the action at the zoo.
She says her older son Talon, 14, plays guitar while Arlo 9, is keen on the Cajon drum.
“They might come out on stage and start playing. I don’t ask them to. I leave it up to them,” says Chambers.
An appearance by her daughter Poet, 5, is likely to be even more informal.
“She’ll wander on stage for a quick hug,” says Chambers.
Her musician father Bill Chambers will also be on guitar for the Twilight concert.
“While it’s exciting to win awards like the ARIAs, what is the true highlight of what I do, what is amazing and special, is having three generations of my family on stage,” said Chambers.
Despite her swag of Aria and Golden Guitar Awards, Chambers jokes about what she saw as her moment of fame.

“They had a question about me on Wheel of Fortune,” she laughs.
Chambers will perform songs from her original albums The Captain, Barricades & Brickwalls and her latest album Dragonfly.
