A man accused of videoing women in brothels and strip clubs over a period of two years without their consent has faced court.
Glen Lyndon David Chick, 49, from Kirribilli, was granted bail in Central Local Court on Tuesday a day after being arrested and charged with 38 counts of film person in private act without consent.
Police will allege in court a large number of videos were found on the man’s phone of women filmed without their knowledge in different adult entertainment venues.
Court documents revealed between December 2017 and February 2020 Chick allegedly filmed sexual intercourse with two women, on separate occasions, and also took 36 videos of women performing strip dances.
On Monday evening, police were called to a brothel in Surry Hills following reports a 23-year-old woman had been filmed without her consent.
Police arrived and spoke with the woman before arresting Chick at the brothel.
Police did not oppose bail when he appeared in court via audio visual link but did request strict bail conditions.
Magistrate Robert Williams granted him bail on Tuesday with conditions including not to go near strip clubs or brothels, allow police to check his mobile phone, only possess one mobile phone, and not contact any witness.
He must also report three times a week to police and must reside at an address in Parramatta.
Mr Williams said it appeared to be a strong prosecution case but he found strict bail conditions allayed the risks of his being released from custody.
His matter has been adjourned until March 3.
