Former Olympic rower James Stewart aiming for property gold with the sale of his Mosman home
THREE time Olympic rower James Stewart is used to achieving success, but during the Rio Olympics he’s hoping to score a win of a different kind — with the sale of his Mosman home.

HAVING competed at the 1996, 2000 and 2004 Olympics with his twin brother Geoff, and with younger brother Steve joining them on the podium in 2004, James Stewart is undoubtedly adept at coping with race day nerves.
But when it comes to selling his Mosmanhome at auction, he said the jitters were certainly “comparable”.
“Usually with a race you have prepared so much for it that you know what the outcome is going to be, but with an auction it’s the unknown that gives you a bit of the jitters,” he said.
The uncanny timing of the sale coinciding with the Rio Olympics has also provoked a sense of sentimentality for the former champion, who used the renovated three-bedroom federation semi as his training base over the past 11 years.
“I love watching the Olympics and now selling (my home), my past history is going with the sale,” he said.
This emotional attachment is obvious not only from the memorabilia on display within its walls, but in how Mr Stewart describes how perfectly suited its setting is to both his active lifestyle and raising his young family.
“It’s got a north facing backyard, that’s definitely a winner, it’s close to all the shops, but especially for me it’s all about the active lifestyle it gives you,” he said.
“You’re near Balmoral — we go swimming there a lot during summer; (being able to run) through the park up at Clifton Gardens and Taronga zoo (which I did) training for the Olympics.
“It’s just beautiful; you can do your morning workout and have a nice coffee on the water there, the place ticks all the boxes.”
