CAMMERAY homeowners could be turfed out to make way for two major tunnel projects.
The State Government is pushing ahead with the Beaches Link and Western Harbour tunnels, which are planned to meet in the suburb.
Morden St is expected to be in the firing line and resident Paula Duncan has been put on notice.
“I am very worried that I might lose my home,” she said.
“I know all the neighbours and have made friends here.
“Whilst you can put a value on bricks and mortar, how do you value happiness and the friendships that have been made?”
Ms Duncan received a notice from Roads and Maritime Services last month stating they were in the area and wanted to discuss the announcement of the road tunnels.
“I rang the contact number and spoke to someone from the RMS,” she said.
“He told me about the legislation regarding compulsory acquisition and that the government had the right to acquire properties.”
Ms Duncan has lived in her apartment for six years after spending two years looking for the right property. She said she felt safe in the suburb and could walk to local cafes and businesses.
Her home is one bus stop from the city and overlooks Cammeray golf course.
“Where else am I going to find such a unique spot?” she asked.
“How long will it take me to find somewhere else if the government acquires my home?
“I doubt very much that I will be able to afford such a unique place like this in the future if the project goes ahead.”
She added that the other residents who had received similar notices were also worrying about their future and where they would move to.

A Roads and Maritime Services spokesman said the authority understood compulsory property acquisitions was a sensitive issue.
“While it is too early to confirm if these properties will be impacted, it is important the community is engaged now,” he said.
The RMS spokesman encouraged residents to attend upcoming community information sessions.
McMahons Point Community Centre is hosting feedback sessions on Thursday from 2.30pm and Saturday from 10am.
