A CAR churned up the golden sands of Balmoral Beach overnight.
Residents awoke to the sight of the silver hatchback stuck in the soft sand after it crashed through the barriers.
“It happened in the middle of the night. It smashed through the barricade right next door to my house,” said Mosman councillor Roy Bendall.
“It got stuck in the soft sand just before the water’s edge.
“It’s a pity as they did smash up our nice wooden barricade.”
Surprised locals sent in their photos to the Mosman Daily of the car, with one showing tracks across the beach.
North Sydney Police are following a line of inquiry into the incident.
“It’s a suspected stolen vehicle,” said Acting Inspector Scott MacGee.
The car has been towed away.
