Aussie actor Nick Stevenson to co-star with former James Bond Pierce Brosnan in new US TV series
SYDNEY actor Nick Stevenson — of Orange is the New Black fame — has been cast in the new US television drama series The Son alongside Hollywood star Pierce Brosnan.

Don't miss out on the headlines from Mosman. Followed categories will be added to My News.
ACTOR Nick Stevenson resists being starstruck but confesses that meeting Hollywood star Pierce Brosnan on set last week was a big moment for a boy who went to a primary school on Sydney’s north shore.
The Mosman actor and former Mosman Primary pupil has been cast alongside Brosnan in a new TV series.
“I don’t usually get phased by meeting other actors but meeting Brosnan was one of the those slap myself in the face moments.’’ he said.
Stevenson plays the part of Fred Burnhauer opposite Brosnan in the new Texan drama The Son.
“Brosnan is the consummate professional but still has the Irish larrikin about him,’’ Stevenson said.
“Put an Irishman and Australian together and you know you’re going to have a good time.”
Stevenson, who grew up in Mosman, also had a role in the runaway hit Orange is the New Black
“When I was asked to audition, I thought it was a cooking show,’’ Stevenson laughed.
“I played a laconic Aussie so it wasn’t much of a stretch for me.” (Stevenson played the role of Pete Harper and gets to punch out the character played by Jason Biggs).
Stevenson moved to New York 17 years ago with no introductions, no agent and a brief acting CV.
“I had to work it all out on my own,’’ he said.
Now he has an American wife Lauren, two small children Archer and Marlowe, and lives in Austin, Texas.
“I want to stay in Austin because it’s most like Australia,’’ he said.
“And we like our privacy.
“I don’t like it when you are in restaurants where people pretend to be taking a photograph of friends when they’re really taking a shot of you.”
Stevenson says being an Aussie actor in America has both helped and hindered.
“You have to get rid of the accent but Aussies are known for being polite and hardworking,’’ he said.
Since he’s been in the US, Stevenson has been in feature films like the award winning Isn’t It Delicious and more recently played a war veteran in Her Unlikely Kin.
Stevenson also established the Outhouse Theatre Company in New York and has had a string of television parts and voice-overs.
While he says he hopes to return to Australia one day and “pitch a tent somewhere”, his last visit home to Mosman still rankles.
“I got two parking tickets,’’ he lamented.
