Woman, man arrested at Nambucca, charged at Macksville on child abuse material charges

A Mid-North Coast woman has been remanded behind bars on a string of serious child abuse material charges, while a 30-year-old male co-accused has been granted bail.

A Mid-North Coast woman is behind bars on remand and a man has been granted bail after an investigation resulted in them being charged with child abuse material offences.

On May 8, police attached to Mid North Coast Police District began an investigation relating to alleged child abuse material.

A NSW Police spokesman confirmed the investigation was sparked following a referral from the State Crime Command’s Child Exploitation Internet Unit.

The next day police executed two search warrants in Nambucca Heads, with subsequent inquiries allegedly revealing child abuse material on electronic devices.

A 30-year-old man was arrested and taken to Macksville Police Station where he was charged with three counts of possessing child abuse material.

A woman is behind bars remanded in custody and a man has been granted bail after a special investigation allegedly revealed they were involved in a string of child abuse material crimes.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court on Saturday May 10, and has since been granted conditional bail to appear before Macksville Local Court on Thursday July 24.

Following further inquiries, detectives arrested a 23-year-old woman in Nambucca Heads about 1pm on Tuesday.

She was taken to Macksville Police Station where she was charged with five counts of using a carriage service to make available child abuse, and one charge of using carriage service to access child abuse material.

She was formally refused bail at Parramatta Local Court today and is due to appear before the same court on Thursday, July 10.
