A new P-plate driver has been left terrified after having her windscreen shattered in what appears to be a random attack.

Takiera-Schapelle Johnston was driving with three friends on Friday night when, at about 10pm, they stopped for a red light at the intersection of Gordon St and Ocean Drive.

Without warning, an unknown woman jumped out in front of the car and smashed the glass with a rock.

The offender “absolutely terrified” the young driver when she attacked the vehicle.

But this wasn’t the first time the new P-plater had been threatened by her, having recognised the woman from an alleged incident earlier in the week.

Ms Johnston claims that on Tuesday night she also had a run-in with the woman and two others.

“I approached one of the roundabouts in town, in the rain, when three people – a couple and one other person – ran out in front of my car,” she said.

“I slammed on the brakes and they started screaming at me with a lot of harsh language.

“We didn’t interact with them, just let them leave, but saw two of them again soon after when we stopped the car to use a nearby public bathroom.

“Before we could even get out they started running at my car, trying to jump us and telling us to get out of the car so they can fight us – we obviously had no idea who these people were so we drove off.”

The carload of teens then drove to the Shell Coles Express on the Port Macquarie highway, where they pulled up to wait for the heavy rain to pass.

“When the rain finally did pass, we revisited the toilets, assuming the group who threatened us would be gone and we could use the facilities,” Ms Johnston explained.

“But no, they were still there, the older boyfriend of the couple who approached the car earlier ran out in front of my car again.”

Ms Johnston said the man jumped out from in front of the vehicle “at the last second”, before coming around to the driver’s side and grabbing on to the window, demanding she pull the vehicle over.

Giving up on the public toilets, the group of friends later made their way to McDonalds, where she claims they again saw the people who had threatened them.

“They were just walking along the road screaming at us,” Ms Johnston said.

“That was the last time we saw them, until Friday night.”

The young driver dropped her friends home, given how shaken they all were from the encounter.

Ms Johnston then made her own way home, with her mum on the phone for support.

“I just felt so paranoid, I didn’t want these people to find me again,” she said.

“I didn’t know who they were, I didn’t know if they had a knife or anything, and they were just saying such horrible things.”

But that turned out to be wishful thinking for Ms Johnston, who found the group waiting for her at a bus stop near her home.

The young driver has gone to Port Macquarie police to help find the perpetrators that attacked her vehicle.

She claims the group ran down the street, chasing her and trying to jump in front of the vehicle again.

The woman, who Ms Johnston believes went on to damage her windscreen on Friday night, allegedly picked up another smaller rock and threw it at the driver’s side window but didn’t cause any damage.

The young driver has visited Port Macquarie Police Station multiple times in the past week, and is currently in the process of collecting CCTV and dashcam evidence of the incident.

“The officer told me if I could get some footage, they can be charged and made to face court,” she said.

“I plan on walking in to the station with a USB and handing them everything I can to make that happen.”
