Port Macquarie man faces court over alleged child sex offences on his granddaughter

A man has appeared in court accused of allegedly sexually assaulting his granddaughter at a home in Port Macquarie.

A 59-year-old man offered cannabis laced with a white crystal substance to his granddaughter who he sexually assaulted at a home in Port Macquarie, court documents allege.

The man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was not required to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court on Thursday where he is facing charges of aggravated sexual intercourse with a child 10 years or older and under 14 years, and intentionally sexually touch a child 10 years or older and under 16 years.

The offences are alleged to have occurred between July 18 and 20 this year.

Court documents allege the man offered his underage granddaughter one or two ‘cones’ of ‘weed,’ allegedly mixed with a substance described by the girl as having a white crystal appearance.

The man is accused of sexually assaulting a girl under 14.

It is alleged he then began undressing her and touching her inappropriately after smoking the drug.

It is alleged he asked her “Do you want to suck on my d***?” and told her that she had a “nice little bum.”

Court documents also allege that the man was touching himself while allegedly sexually assaulting the girl.

In the days following the alleged event, the girl recounted the incident to family members who accompanied her to Port Macquarie Police Station to report the matter.

The girl gave a statement to the Child Sex Abuse Squad, who reported it to detectives.

Police attended the man’s home on July 28 where he was interviewed and arrested. Police also allegedly seized a small quantity of cannabis at his address.

Bail has not been applied for and has been formerly refused.

He will reappear in Port Macquarie Local Court on November 4.
