A young family from the state’s mid north coast has been left shattered and searching for answers after a father-of-seven and the family’s sole provider died just days after being released from hospital.
Ben Taylor, who is from near Macksville, had just turned 42 when he died at home on Friday.
Two days earlier, the business owner and doting husband was taken to hospital, suffering blurry vision, loss of sensation in his leg and arm pain.
According to Beck Duggan, a friend of the family, doctors attributed Mr Taylor’s condition to dehydration and sent him home with panadeine forte for his pain.
Over the next 24 hours he remained bedridden at home, unable to move.
His distraught wife Chantelle urged him to return to the hospital, but he died before receiving further care.
It is understood Mr Taylor’s cause of death remains unknown, leaving his young family desperate for answers as they begin the impossible task of navigating the magnitude of their loss.
Ms Duggan, who has since set up a fundraiser for the devastated Taylor family, described Mr Taylor as “hard working, full of love, life, laughter, family and friends”.
“This family is truly broken and their only wish is to bring him back,” Ms Duggan wrote.
Mr Taylor’s sudden passing has sparked an outpouring of grief, with tributes remembering him as “lovely man, amazing person”, and “one of the best blokes you’ll ever meet”.
