Just days after being sentenced for a string of violent assaults and perverting the course of justice, a Mid-North Coast man has found himself in trouble with the law again.

Joshua Solomon, 32, was sentenced in the Taree District Court last Friday after pleading guilty to a range of charges dating back to mid-2021.

It was heard in the court that he entered into a relationship with a woman at Forster in April 2021 and it was “turbulent from the start”.

One one occasion on July 26, the woman went to stay at Coffs Harbour to “get away” from Solomon.

But he was waiting for her when she returned on the bus late at night at Taree, the court heard.

The victim told her mother “he is going to kill me”.

Judge Robyn Tupman outlined Solomon’s “disgusting” offending, telling the court he slapped the victim in the face and spat on her at one point.

His overall pattern of behaviour was “redolent with ridiculous jealousy”, she said.

On another occasion, Solomon lifted the victim by the throat and threatened to bash her if she did not stop crying.

Solomon pleaded guilty to three charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and one charge of assault.

He also pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice.

Solomon was sentenced to three years and six months jail, backdated to August 10, 2021, with a non-parole period of two years and two months.

This meant he was eligible for release on the day of sentencing.

However, he allegedly breached a court order just days later.

Solomon is due to face Taree Local Court on December 12.
