A Mid-North Coast couple is facing drug supply charges after meth and homemade weapons, including a large machete with the words ‘zombie killer’ on it, were allegedly uncovered in a caravan at a local showground.

Jason Matthew Clark appeared before Taree Local Court on February 14 in an attempt to vary his bail to have contact with his partner and co-accused Joanne Mary Lumsden.

Clark is pleading not guilty to five charges after police allegedly uncovered what magistrate Allison Hawkins described as a “significant amount of drugs” in a caravan at the Wingham Showground.

He is charged with possessing ammunition without holding a licence; possess a prohibited drug (methamphetamine); two charges of possess or use a prohibited weapon without a permit (in relation to a homemade sling shot with a bag of rocks attached and a large machete with the words ‘zombie killer’ on it); and supply a prohibited drug (methamphetamine) greater than indictable but less than a commercial quantity.

The offences were alleged to have occurred on February 6 and Clark was granted bail the next day.

Part of his bail conditions was not to have any contact with Lumsden but, according to documents tendered to court, they had been together thirty years and it was difficult being apart so he was applying to vary this.

It was also heard in court that he needed to give her a lift to her job as a cleaner.

Magistrate Allison Hawkins denied the request to vary bail and adjourned his matter to March 15.

Lumsden is facing four charges - one of supply a prohibited drug (methamphetamine) greater than indictable but less than a commercial quantity and three possess prohibited drug (methamphetamine).

She hasn’t entered a plea and her case has been adjourned to March 8.
