A family has been left shattered after a dad and three children failed to show at a relative’s house, later found by police in a fatal car wreck on the state’s Mid-North Coast.

About 1am on Saturday, officers attached to Manning Great Lakes Police District received reports of a concern for welfare for a man and three children.

Officers were told the man and children may have been travelling to a relative’s home and failed to arrive.

About 3am officers patrolling The Bucketts Way, Tugrabakh, located an SUV which had left the road and went down an embankment.

Tragically, Wade, 45, and Ivy Hodgess were found dead at the scene.

Ivy Hodgess and her father Wade died after the car they were travelling in along The Bucketts Way near Gloucester crashed in the early hours of Saturday, October 19.

Brothers Lenix and Vann were trapped in the vehicle for some time, before being freed by NSW Fire and Rescue and SES.

They were later taken to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle for treatment.

Ivy was just 11-years-old and a GoFundMe page titled ‘Forever Eleven’ has been established by close friend Amanda Kendall.

She says the community of Forster/Tuncurry had been rocked by the tragedy and urged the community to get behind the campaign and grieving mother Simara.

“Dig deep and help this family give their little girl a beautiful send off,” she wrote.

“These funds will be contributed to the ongoing rehabilitation, counselling, travel, rental assistance and any other day to day expenses that might arise.”

Jenny Pither shared a link to the campaign, saying the Forster Tuncurry Junior Rugby League Football Club had been hit hard by the news.

“Our little community is devastated for the families,” she wrote.

“Understandably during this time, there are going to be some considerable expenses for Simara and (her partner) Darryn to cover and not working will put a significant strain on the family budget.”

In just a few hours the campaign had raised $10,862, quickly surpassing its original $6,500 target.
