Crescent Head: Two teens, 12 and 13, to face court over vehicle thefts
Two teenagers arrested by police after an officer was knocked to the ground by a stolen vehicle will face a children’s court next month charged with motor vehicle thefts.

Two teenagers will face court next month after police allege they stole two motor vehicles, one which was used to knocked-down an officer in an attempt to flee an arrest.
About 1am on Tuesday August 24, police attended a West Kempsey address following a report a white Mazda BT50 had been stolen from the property.
Police conducted a search of the surrounding area before responding to reports that people where behaving suspiciously in the Crescent Head area. About 5am police where patrolling a Crescent Head street, where they located the stolen vehicle.
As police approached it to apprehend the driver, the teenager clicked into into reverse and took off – knocking a police officer to the ground with the open driver’s door.
The officer sustained minor hand and leg injuries.
A short time later police arrested a 13-year-old Kempsey boy who was taken back to Kempsey Police Station.
In pursuit of a second person involved, police attended a second address in West Kempsey where they arrested a 14-year-old Kempsey boy who was apprehended by a member of the public.
While there, they located the stolen Mazda BT50 intact. A nearby Black Toyota RAV4 with fire damage was also found.
Police will allege that the 14-year-old stole the Toyota RAV4 from a second address at Crescent Head between 5.10am and 5.25am on Tuesday August 24.
He was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, and damage property by fire/explosives.
The 13-year-old boy was charged with be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
Both will appear at Kempsey Children’s Court on September 8.
A 12-year-old Kempsey boy will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act for the offence of, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
Mid-North Coast Police continue investigations to identify a number other offenders connected with these incidents.
