Four correctional officers have faced court over the alleged assault of an inmate in their care at a Sydney prison.
Former Parklea Correctional Centre officer, Michael Wiggins, of Leonay appeared alongside Marsden Park man Gagandeep Singh Chauhan, Milperra man Harry Plessas and Wakeley man Henry-Siriah Fuimaono at Blacktown Local Court on Thursday morning, after the group of officers were arrested and charged over the alleged assault of an inmate at the western Sydney private prison.
Police will allege in court the four officers — who were stood down by Parklea management MTC-Broadspectrum following an internal investigation — assaulted an inmate at around 8pm on July 13.
Earlier this month, NewsLocal exclusively revealed three officers had been charged over the alleged incident.
Henry Fuimaono, 24, was charged following further investigation.
43-year-old Wiggins, 49-year-old Plessas and 24-year-old Fuimaono were all charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of others, and common assault.
While 36-year-old Chauhan was charged with two counts each of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company of others, and common assault.
NSW Police representatives said it would be alleged in court each of the men were involved in the assault of the inmate at Parklea on July 13.
