Zali Steggall and supporters gather at Spit Bridge for final thank you
After months of breathing in the fumes of thousands of cars each day you’d forgive Zali Steggall’s supporters for never wanting to stand at the side of the Spit Bridge again. But that’s where they were this morning to say thank you to voters.

After months of breathing in the fumes of thousands of cars each day you’d forgive Zali Steggall’s supporters for never wanting to stand at the side of the Spit Bridge again.
But bright and early on Monday morning they were out there for one last time to say thank you to voters.
They were joined by Warringah’s new MP as well as her father, Jack.
With a huge ‘thank you’ banner behind them they waved at motorists on their way to work.
“Zali went to The Spit this morning to say a big thank you to Warringah with her volunteers, who provided absolutely fantastic support throughout the campaign with their positivity and energy,” a spokesman from her camp said.
Ms Steggall’s supporters have become a regular site on the small patch of grass on the Mosman side of the Spit Bridge crossing throughout the election campaign.
Most mornings they have been down there in their turquoise T-shirts.
The small patch became a prime campaigning spot, with Ms Steggall’s volunteers often sharing the space with Mr Abbott’s supporters.
Ms Steggall ended Tony Abbott’s 25 year run as MP for Warringah on Saturday.
