Warringah Mall: Girl, 12, allegedly sexually touched by stranger outside McDonald’s

A 29-year-old man will front a Sydney court for allegedly sexually touching a 12-year-old girl he did not know outside a McDonald’s fast food restaurant.

A girl, 12, was allegedly sexually touched by a stranger outside a McDonald’s restaurant on the northern beaches.

The girl was near the fast food franchise in one of the food courts at Westfield Warringah Mall when she was allegedly assaulted by a 29-year-old man.

Police have arrested the man, from Wollstonecraft, on Sydney’s Lower North Shore.

He is due to appear in Manly Local Court on February 23, charged with one count each of intentionally sexually touch child (aged between 10 and 16 years) and common assault.

Police will allege in court that at about 2pm on Sunday, November 28 last year, they were contacted about an alleged assault that occurred earlier that day at Warringah Mall.

Earlier this week police posted a request on the Northern Beaches Police Local Area Command Facebook site seeking witnesses, or anyone with information about the alleged incident outside the McDonald’s outlet between 12.30pm and 1pm, to come forward.

In a statement released on Friday, police said it would be alleged the man inappropriately touched the 12-year-old girl, who was not known to him.

“Following extensive investigations, on Sunday, 9 January, a 29-year-old man was charged.”

Police said the man had been granted unconditional bail after his arrest.
