A man who was on parole for viciously assaulting police has pleaded guilty to threatening to bash cops outside a northern beaches police station.
Tyson Dellosta, 24, of Mona Vale, had only been out of jail for just two months for badly injuring a police officer on New Year’s Eve in 2018, when he turned up on the footpath opposite Dee Why police station on January 23 this year.
Manly Local Court heard on Wednesday that two officers, a male and a female, feared for their safety as they left the station in civilian clothes after finishing their shifts at 5.30pm.
In a facts sheet tendered to court, the male officer said Dellosta came up behind him as he walked to his car parked outside the nearby Dee Why fire station.
The female officer told investigators that she feared Dellosta was “going to cause harm to her” as she hurried to her car, got in and locked the doors.
After receiving a “distressed phone call” from one of the off-duty officers, two on-duty officers left the station and were shouted at by Dellosta who was standing across the road.
“Come over here you dogs, come across the road and I’ll f***ing bash you”, Dellosta yelled loudly.
Dellosta then shouted: “Come on coppa dogs, let’s fight. I will f***ing drop you both.”
The facts sheet said Dellosta then ran across St David Ave towards the two officers, but as they approached him on the footpath, he started backing away while spitting on the ground.
“Come fight me, you f***ing dogs,” he yelled. “I’ll finish both of you. I’ll f*** you both up.”
Dellosta then turned and ran off towards Pittwater Rd.
On February 4 Dellosta turned up at Manly police station on his own accord “to resolve the matter”.
After he was arrested, he kicked out at the door in a lift as he was being taken to the custody area; abused police for placing him in handcuffs and; spat while in the custody dock.
The court has previously heard that Dellosta served 12 months of a two-year sentence for his part in a wild brawl with police in the park behind the Dee Why Surf Life Saving Club.
Dellosta had to be subdued using capsicum spray after lashing out at police, badly injuring an officer’s jaw, after they pulled over a suspected stolen VW ute in James Meehan Reserve on December 31, 2018.
In Manly Local Court on Wednesday Dellosta, who is in custody, pleaded guilty to two counts intimidate police officer in execution of duty and one count of offensive behaviour.
He will be sentenced on October 28.
