THE Warringah Rats will remember their late team mate Lachlan Ward in Saturday’s game against Penrith at Pittwater Rugby Park on Saturday.
It will be the Rats’ first game since Lachlan died after collapsing while playing in a fifth grade game against Gordon 11 days ago.
“We want to get as many people there as we can to celebrate the life of Lach and everything that goes with that,” said Rats general manager Luke Holmes.
“It is going to be a special day for his family.”
The game also coincides with the club’s Charity Round with a number of events besides the rugby to take place,
And in a marvellous show of solidarity, 70 former Warringah players attended Tuesday night’s training session to support the players and they also manned the barbecue.
The sentiment was summed by a post on the Warringah Hillbillies supporters’ Facebook page
“A bond of club mates past and present to help them through this tough time,” it read.
A memorial service will be held fior Lachlan on Thursday at 2pm at the C3 Church in Oxford Falls.
