It was just a few minutes, but Saskia Horley’s first experience of the WBBL with Sydney Thunder has given her a hunger for more.

It was only for six balls but just being on North Sydney Oval during a WBBL game has made Saskia Horley even more determined to make her Sydney Thunder debut this season.

The 19-year-old from French’s Forest was 12th woman for the Thunder when sent on to field as an injury replacement for teammate Phoebe Litchfield in the opening round of the women’s Big Blash earlier this month.

“I’ve played my first WBBL minutes but not officially made a debut yet because I was 12th man. But this has just given me a hunger to make it this summer,’’ Horley said.

“Even though I was only there for an over there are so many people who would love to be in my position. It was pretty amazing.

“The noise is what I remember most, it’s loud when you play. You don’t feel it as much when you are off the field.

“Also you can feel all eyes on you. It makes you want to not stuff up.’’

Horley, who plays grade cricket for Gordon, made her debut for the NSW Breakers this season and is hoping to do the same with Thunder in upcoming matches in the WBBL’s first stand-alone season.

HALL OF FAME: From bathtub to world stage

Horley is one of six teenagers in the Thunder squad, playing alongside Litchfield, 16, North Rocks’s Kate Peterson, 16, Hannah Darlington, 17 from Erskine Park, Rachel Trenaman, 18, from Wagga Wagga and Taliah Wilson, 19, from Albion Park.

“I want it a bit more now, to debut,’’ said right arm offspinner Horley who is doing a Bachelor of Management at UTS.

“Now I’ve had a taste I know how bad I want it.’’
