Bad day at training. Shock result in the local derby against the Wester Sydney Wanderers. It’s enough to drive a footballer mad.
But all Sydney FC forward Kosta Barbarouses has to do is go home, take a peek at his baby daughter, and all is right with the world again.
Just five weeks after wife Tara gave birth to daughter Lola, Barbarouses is a changed man.
“I can’t actually believe how much it has changed me,’’ Barbarouses said ahead of Friday night’s A-League clash with the Newcastle Jets at Leichhardt Oval.
“It takes away a bit of the pressure. It puts things into perspective.
“The match on Saturday, things didn’t go our way.
“I went home and saw the baby and everything is all right again.
“I’m playing for my kid and my wife. You have to let things go.’’

SON OF A GUN: Speed record assault
Sydney FC were left fuming after their 1-0 derby loss to the Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday night.
While Barbarouses thought he’d scored with a header from Brandon O’Neill’s corner in the second half, points were not awarded.
With his focus now on the match at Leichhardt Oval, the 29-year-old praised his wife as the most understanding of new mothers – even letting him sleep in the spare room so he is not disturbed before Sydney FC matches and training.
“Tara has been a champion, just amazing,’’ he said.
“We talked a lot about it. We agreed it was important to get my sleep and rest so she has been amazing letting me sleep in the spare room.’’

Barbarouses said he is looking forward to playing at Leichhardt Oval.
“We played Wellington there last week and it is a great ground,’’ he said.
“To be at a smaller venue with 12,000 plus is amazing.
“It brings you back to your roots. Makes you feel like you are a little kid again.
“I think it’s great.’’
