Sea Eagles: Team mates back Jake Trbojevic for NSW State of Origin side

SEA Eagles players have called on their team mate Jake Trbojevic to be selected in the NSW State of Origin side after his big game for the Kangaroos in Friday night’s Test over New Zealand.

The Manly players who see close up what he does every week say the 23-year-old forward again demonstrated he is up to the task of performing in the interstate cauldron.

“I don’t think he will have a problem handling it, none at all,” said Manly five-eighth Blake Green.

“I thought Jake did a fantastic job for the Kangaroos. he has been in great for us as has (his brother) Tommy.

“I don’t think there is much more they can do to improve their chances to be picked in the Origin side. “Fingers crossed they get there in a couple of weeks.”

Tom is already a red hot tip to claim a wing spot for the Blues and did not play in the City v Country game on the weekend.

Winger Jorge Taufua said Jake Trbojevic was more than ready for State of Origin.

He said the brothers have been “massive” for Manly this season.

“We just hope rep jerseys are there for them,” Taufua said.

Manly’s Kiwi international Lewis Brown said Jake Trbojevic has been one of the team’s most consistent performers over the past two seasons.

“I believe he has done enough to get a blue jumper for sure,” Brown said.

Backrower Frank Winterstein said certainly didn’t look out of place in the Kangaroos and could add a lot to the NSW squad.

“He brings a lot of grunt whenever he plays, he has that good go forward on him he’s got a great engine on him,” Winterstein said,
