Curl Curl electrician wins big at Australian Surf Championships

If you’re going to take a week off work you may as well make it count. Curl Curl electrician Jason Livingstone has.

Jason Livingstone figured if he was going to take a week off work to go surfing he needed bang for his buck.

It is why he entered multiple divisions at the SAE Group Australian Surf Championships at Duranbah earlier this week.

A total of 12 new Australian championships were crowned at the Australian Longboard and Logger title with Livingston winning two.

The Curl Curl electrician created history as the first surfer to claim the honours at the event in two age divisions, winning both the over 45s and over 50s finals.

In fact he could not put a foot wrong and was undefeated over the entire event.

“It is good to try yourself against the youngster guys as well,” the 51-year-old said.

TOKYO: I felt like I was melting from the inside out

“It’s a long way to go and I have the energy to do two divisions so I thought why not.

“I was kind of surprised because I had the last few years off.”

Livingstone has never surfed professionally but says he would surf every day if he could.

“It’s a hobby and I’ve got back into it the last 10 years,” he said.

“I just like challenging myself.

“You get to see how you are against everyone else.”
