POLICE are warning northern beaches’ parents to be more vigilant about mobile phone apps their teenage daughters are using after a schoolgirl was linked to a prostitution allegation.

The high school student had allegedly received money for sex after hooking up with a 35-year-old man via a so-called “sugar daddy” dating app.

Police will allege in court that the girl, 16, who attends a school on the peninsula, was paid $400 a time to have sexual intercourse with the man from Woolloomooloo.

Her parents contacted officers from the Northern Beaches Police Area Command after discovering the Seeking Arrangements online app on their daughter’s phone.

On its website, Seeking Arrangement states that it can organise for older, successful men or women to meet younger “Sugar Babes” for “mutually beneficial relationships”.

In its marketing material it said that “Sugar Babies enjoy a life of luxury by being pampered with fine dinners, exotic trips and allowances. In turn, Sugar Daddies or Mommas find beautiful members to accompany them at all times”.

Northern Beaches Police acting crime manager Guy Magee said the parents checked the girl’s device after noticing that she was in possession of extra cash as well as a new mobile phone and clothing.

“The parents found a Seeking Arrangements dating app on the phone,” Acting Inspector Magee said.

“It showed she had met with a 35-year-old man who allegedly paid an amount of money for sexual intercourse.

“It was allegedly agreed that he would pay $400 for sexual intercourse on an ongoing basis.”

The man was arrested at Manly Police Station on Tuesday where he was charged with acting as a client with a child between 14 and 18 years in prostitution.

The man will appear in Manly Local Court on October 17.
