A woman has been left with a $12,000 vet bill after her husky was “ripped to pieces” by a pack of dogs.

Five-year-old siberian husky Mishka spent a week in Terrey Hills Animal Hospital and had two operations as vets battled to save her life.

She is now back home in Beacon Hill but “will never be the same again” according to her owner, Borjanka Zeljak.

The attack happened on December 2 and the dogs responsible are thought to be from the same pack that attacked and killed two-year-old spoodle Chilli and chooks Lucy and Bubby in Narraweena last month.

Six dogs are thought to have been living at the same home in Narraweena.

The four dogs that attacked and killed Chilli and the chooks were put down shortly after the incident on January 25.

The two other dogs which are believed to have been involved in the mauling of Mishka were put down over the weekend, a Northern Beaches Council officer said.

Ms Zeljak said she would never forget the evening of December 2.

The three dogs are thought to have escaped from their home and made their way to nearby Beacon Hill, where they came across Mishka.

“She was trying to climb up the stairs into the house when the three dogs attacked,” Ms Zeljak said. “They were literally ripping her to pieces. They were grabbing hold of her then shaking and ripping off pieces of skin.

“I was just screaming. There was nothing Mishka could do.

“She only survived because she’s a husky. They are built to survive attacks from polar bears so she’s very strong.

“They savaged her, she had no chance.”

A passing motorcyclist saw the dogs attack and jumped off his bike and rushed to Mishka’s aid. He grabbed a stick and poked the dogs until they relented.

“Mishka ran upstairs and hid under the bed,” Ms Zeljak said. “You could see the blood pouring out of her.”

She rushed Mishka to the animal hospital. She had two huge rips on her stomach, puncture wounds on her neck, body and paws and nerve damage to her legs.

“I thought I was going to lose her,” Ms Zeljak said.

“ I said to her, ‘You fight for Mummy and Mummy will fight for you’.”

After a week in hospital, two surgeries and more than $12,000 Mishka was allowed home.

“I’ve tried to socialise her with other dogs but she is very nervous. She will never be the same again,” Ms Zeljak said.

“I don’t blame those dogs for what they did. I blame the owner.”

Northern Beaches Council said that it continued to investigate all reported incidents.

A spokeswoman said the two dogs put down over the weekend was a result of their ongoing investigations.
