Video shows dogs fighting amongst themselves before killing Narraweena pet Chilli

A shocking video taken just days before four dogs killed a family pet on Sydney’s northern beaches shows the pack fighting among themselves — as it’s revealed the animals also targeted and killed chickens belonging to another family.

Narraweena dog attack

A shocking video taken just days before four dogs killed a family pet depicts the animals fighting among themselves.

In the disturbing footage one of the dogs can be heard screaming in pain as it is mauled by the others.

Just days after the footage was captured, four of the dogs broke through a garden fence in Narraweena and mauled two-year-old spoodle Chilli to death.

Beatriz George said the family is struggling to come to terms with the incident.

The four dogs were impounded by Northern Beaches Council and have now been destroyed.

A week on from the incident more details have emerged of the terrifying attack.

Neighbour Carwyn Davies was home alone with family pet Archie when the 16-year-old heard the dogs trying to break through the George family’s fence.

The teenager grabbed her three-year-old Shih tzu and locked the doors, fearing the dogs might come for them.

However, she didn’t have time to gather the family’s chickens.

After killing Chilli they went for and killed the Davies’ chickens, Lucy and Bubby.

“We just found the feathers later, it’s horrible,” Carwyn’s mum Christina said.

“Carwyn called me and I rushed home from work as soon as I could.”

Mrs Davies shot the video of the dogs brawling just days earlier and sent it to Northern Beaches Council on January 20.

She had also contacted the council earlier in the month to complain about the behaviour and aggression of the dogs.

“They have been at our fence, barking and trying to get through the palings by smashing them with their paws.

“Something should have been done, it shouldn’t have come to this.”

The council confirmed they had been in correspondence with the family and had sent rangers out to follow up on concerns raised.

“The community can be assured that council takes dog attacks seriously and will continue to do everything under the law to protect the safety of residents,” council CEO Ray Brownlee said.

He added: “The four dogs involved in the attack on Friday have been euthanized.

“Unfortunately, given the circumstances of the attack, council had no option but to take this course of action.

“Investigations are continuing including considerations of appropriate enforcement action in relation to the attack.”
