Late last month detectives from the Northern Beaches Police Area Command arrested three young males in the city’s south west.

Alleged crimes include stealing cars and travelling in stolen vehicles as well as using credit cards stolen from cars in suburbs including Curl Curl, Balgowlah, Beacon Hill and Belrose.

The charges, including participating in criminal group to contribute to criminal activity, relate to a series of alleged offences throughout September and October.

And on Friday another teenager from the St Marys was charged with eight offences related to thefts from cars at Curl Curl and Belrose.

In the last week of October, detectives from the Northern Beaches Police Proactive Crime Team, armed with search warrants, raided homes at Mt Pritchard, near Liverpool, as well as Airds and Ingleburn, near Campbelltown.

The teens were arrested near Campbelltown after they were spotted, by an off-duty police officer, getting out of the BMW at the Macarthur Square shopping centre.

Police recovered allegedly stolen laptops and credit cards.

Northern Beaches crime manager Michael Boutouridis said youths from other parts of the city targe the northern beaches because they see it as a location for goods they want to steal.

Chief Inspector Boutouridis said the youths travel here at night to steal cars and break into vehicles.

“The message from police is ‘don’t make it easy for them’,” he said.

“Our best advice to residents is ‘lock your cars and keep your valuables out of your cars, or at the very least, out of sight’.”.

Inspector Boutouridis also wanted to remind people intent on stealing that police are patrolling the northern beaches in uniform and in plain clothes.

“Our job is to catch or deter thieves. We’ve got a great team here who do some excellent detective work to investigate, gather evidence and piece together cases against offenders we identify.”
