Comparing Corona to other pandemics might just make you feel better

For the first time northern beaches residents can check how many people living near them have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

Out of all the postcodes, Manly has topped the list for the highest number of cases on the northern beaches at 18, while Palm Beach, Church Point, Elvina Bay, Lovett Bay, Scotland Island have recorded no cases yet.

The data shows that most of the cases are concentrated in the south of the peninsula.

The postcode data adds up to 118 COVID-19 cases, although the latest figures as of 8pm on April 1 show that’s jumped by six to 124 for the northern beaches Local Government Area.

The postcode numbers have yet to be updated to acount for the extra six cases.

Not all of the people with coronavirus would have contracted the disease in the postcode where they live.

A large number of those with the disease are recently returned travellers from overseas, or people who have been in contact with those who have come from overseas.

The latest figures show 18 have contracted the virus locally from an unknown source.
