A series of new and extended northern beaches clearways — including Condamine St, Manly Vale — have unexpectedly been ‘put on hold’, the RMS said, following community consultation.
The RMS confirmed on Thursday afternoon that changes to clearways that fall between Pittwater Rd at Brookvale and Medusa St at The Spit will be looked at further.
The locations of these planned clearways include Condamine St, Burnt Bridge Creek Deviation and Manly Rd.
A spokeswoman from the RMS said community feedback was sought on the proposed new and extended clearways on these busy sections of road in September.
“Feedback was received from more than 90 community members including motorists, stakeholders, businesses, residents and commuters particularly around proposed parking changes at Manly Vale,” she said.
“During the consultation, the clearways project team met with businesses along the corridor, distributed information about the proposal to more than 3900 properties and held an information session at Stocklands Balgowlah.
“This gave Roads and Maritime the opportunity to speak with members of the community and businesses about the proposal and receive feedback.”
The spokeswoman said the RMS will carry out further investigations, particularly around the removal of northbound parking on the state road through Manly Vale.
“Other issues including access to properties, loading and unloading for businesses and parking in the local area will also be investigated,” she said.
“Roads and Maritime will continue to engage with key stakeholders and community representatives during the investigation process, which is likely to take a number of months to ensure a comprehensive assessment is carried out.”
The spokeswoman said key stakeholders, including Northern Beaches Council and Transport for NSW, will be engaged as part of these investigations to further discuss the parking needs of the community, including businesses and residents.
Community members are encouraged to contact the project team at clearways@rms.nsw.gov.au or 1300 706 232 to register their interest in the project.
