A SUMMER drink trend which started in Manhattan has made it to the northern beaches.
Manly Wine has launched frosé, a drink made from frozen rosé wine.
Events and marketing co-ordinator Camilla Glover spotted the drink on Instagram at New York Italian restaurant, Primi, and reckons she’s the first in Sydney to get it onto the bar menu.
It costs $12 a glass, but at special events including the Funk Beach Full Moon Party next Friday it’ll cost $10.
And she said it’s been a big hit.
“Everyone’s loving it — we’ve got a big female clientele — and I haven’t seen anywhere else doing it,” she said.
“Frozen wine loses its flavour so we’ve added a secret liquor and fresh strawberry pure.
“Rose is beautiful and fresh, and this is bringing it to a new level.
“I think Europe’s more into rosé than we are, but it’s becoming more and more popular.”
A New York restaurant manager reportedly decided to put the wine in the slushie machine to see if it would freeze. He also added vermouth and pureed strawberries.
The eastern suburbs is also about to get in on the trend too.
Celeb-fave Double Bay bar Pelicano is launching a ‘frosé terrace garden’ at the end of the month, with two types of the cocktail to try.
