Sickening allegations that a man bashed a woman for 20 minutes during a domestic violence assault have been aired in a Sydney court

A woman was allegedly subjected to a prolonged 20-minute assault that left her bloodied and bruised during a domestic violence incident, a Sydney court has heard.

Kai Fullerton Holland, 40, also allegedly choked and intimidated the woman during the bashing.

The shocking allegations were revealed during Mr Holland’s bail application hearing at Manly Local Court on Wednesday.

Mr Holland, a part-time security guard who is listed in court documents of having “no fixed abode” was applying for release from custody after he was arrested on Tuesday.

It was alleged by police, in documents tendered to court, that the alleged assault occurred at Manly, sometime between 6.30pm on June 30 and 3am on July 1.

Holland is facing one count each of assault occasioning actual bodily harm – domestic violence related; common assault; intentionally choke person without consent and; stalk or intimidate causing fear of physical harm.

He is yet to enter a plea to the charges.

The police prosecutor, who opposed bail, told the court that it would be alleged that the assault by Mr Holland lasted about 20 minutes, leading to the alleged victim suffering severe bruising and bleeding.

The prosecutor said if Mr Holland was released on bail there would be concerns for the safety of the alleged victim and the possibility of more offences being committed.

Mr Holland’s Legal Aid solicitor said if he was released, he could stay at an address in Redfern and would be willing to accept an order not to enter the northern beaches, except to attend court.

Magistrate Robert Williams heard that Mr Holland was currently the subject of an apprehended violence order which excluding him from being at the premises of the alleged victim.

Mr Williams said Mr Holland had a “lengthy criminal history” that including offences of violence and that there was a string prosecution case, based on the facts put before the court.

The magistrate also noted that Mr Holland had a prior history of noncompliance wit court orders.

Bail was refused and Mr Holland will be back in court on July 19 for plea or mention.
