HSC 2022: Top students revealed on the northern beaches

Four students from high schools on the northern beaches topped subjects in the 2022 HSC exams.
Two of those named as “first in course” came from public high schools.
And 21 students at the Northern Beaches Secondary College (NBSC), Manly Campus, made it onto the All-round Achievers list for those who scored 90 or more in 10 units — about five subjects — in their HSC.
NBSC Manly was also ranked 19th in the state overall in HSC results for 2022.
Barrenjoey High School’s William Cassell was first in Music 1 while Stella Mackenzie, from NBSC Mackellar Girls Campus topped the subject in Dance.
At Oxford Falls Grammar School, Year 11 student Matthew Eatough was number one in Mathematics Advanced.
St Augustine’s College, Brookvale, congratulated Gus Stephen for being number one in History Extension this year. He also placed fourth in Modern History.
“Placing first in an HSC course is an enormous achievement, we are so proud of you,” St Augustine’s said.
At Barrenjoey High in Avalon Beach, the school commented on William Cassell’s achievement: “The whole school is very proud of you. It is well deserved.”
At St Luke’s Grammar School, Dee Why, 10 students were also named All-round Achievers. while Northern Beaches Secondary College, Mackellar Girls Campus at Manly Vale had five on the list.
Other schools to do well with students in the All-round Achievers list were NBSC’s Balgowlah Boys Campus with three and Northern Beaches Christian School at Terrey Hills with two.
Education Minister Sarah Mitchell congratulated students on their outstanding results, achieved despite two challenging years.
She said the class of 2022 had a “bright future”.
“My message to all those who received their HSC results is to take all that you have learnt and the resilience and determination you have shown over your final years of school into whatever it is you choose to do next, whether that be university, training or work,” she said.
