Harbord Diggers already has a popular night time venue, a luxury retirement village, childcare and a state of the art gym but it’s now looking at plans for a medical and healthcare clinic.
The Freshwater club owned by the Mounties Group, submitted a development application to Northern Beaches Council this month which reveals new details about the clinic.
The proposal involves converting space, located along a row of shops near the reception area, into three medical rooms.
The clinic which will be called Mounties Care will offer medical services, exercise physiology, physiotherapy, dietetics, podiatry, aged care services, pathology, massage therapy, mental health services and more.
The practice will be used by a variety of specialists and GPs, offering convenience to members, some of whom live in the luxury retirement village located on the site and children at the childcare centre.
In documents submitted on behalf of Mounties, it states the proposal is in response to demand for healthcare services with 55 per cent of the northern beaches residents aged over 65 years or older.
It comes after Mounties made calls during the COVID-19 closure period, where members submitted feedback.
“Across our team we made more than 3,000 welfare calls to our membership over the April to
June period, particularly to those identified to be vulnerable during this time,” Harbord Diggers chief executive Dale Hunt said.
“After the launch of our coronavirus helpline and from listening to the interim outcomes of the Aged Care Royal Commission, the feedback was that people would greatly value an ongoing support service that assists them with general health support services.
“The Mounties ethos was built upon the hard work of men and women who believed that social connection was important, and helping others made the community stronger. Today, Mounties Group remains steadfast in its mission to have a positive impact on the lives of its members for years to come, and so we are pleased to be launching Mounties Care.”
Mounties Care will also offer a Members Concierge service that provides free telephone access to a team of highly practised nurses, providing coronavirus information, chronic disease management, medication review and mental health assistance.
The development application is being assessed by Northern Beaches Council.
