The stunt is the latest from campaign group GetUp as they attempt to unseat Mr Abbott after 25 years.
The group said the horse and cart ride was to show how out of date Mr Abbott and his views on climate change are.
GetUp’s Miriam Lyons said: “Tony Abbott was elected in the 1990s but his views are straight from the 1890s, particularly on climate change and same sex marriage.
“People have had enough of him and it is time for a change.”
May Slater, of Fairlight, who was in Manly with her daughter Tula, 2, said she noticed that people in the electorate were much more engaged in the election than in the past.
“It’s been amazing,” Ms Slater said.
The battle for Warringah has been one of the most hotly contested in Australia, with Mr Abbott conceding he is in the fight of his political life against independent Zali Steggall to retain his seat of 25 years.
It has seen multiple protests over climate change, comical characters and even a superhero put in place by conservative lobby group Advance Australia to “defend” Mr Abbott from GetUP.
Mr Abbott was contacted for comment.
