A boy was injured when he was hit by a car on his way to a school on the northern beaches this morning.
The 10-year-old, a student at Harbord Public School at Freshwater, was struck on Wyadra Ave at about 8.35am.
Shocked witnesses and the driver of the vehicle told police that the boy ran on to the road in front of the car.
He received a number of scratches to his head and back in the collision.
A spokesman for Ambulance NSW said two ambulances were sent to the scene.
“The boy was conscious and breathing when paramedics arrived,” the spokesman said.
“He was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition.”
Northern Beaches Police said the boy had been making his way to school when the incident occurred.
“Officers were told that the boy ran on to the road in front of the vehicle,” a spokesman said.
The NSW Department of Education said it was aware that an incident occurred on Tuesday morning on Wyadra Ave involving a Harbord Public School student.
“The school will be providing an update to parents about the incident and reminding parents and pupils to be aware of pedestrian road safety,” a spokesman said.
